Mother Teresa
(1910-1997)

...is arguably one the most famous Macedonians in history. Born in Skopje to Albanian heritage, she is the catholic nun who put the whole wolrd before herself and helped those in need, her generosity and faith put her a miracle short of sainthood. See more here.

Kiril Lazarov
(1980-)

...is one of the most successful athletes from Macedonia, currently plays for Bacelona H.C. and has many successes in handball. His feat of 92 goals in 9 games at the 2009 World Championship in Croatia is still not surpassed. See the interview done for Lola TV for his last club Atletico Madrid.

Toše Proeski 
(1981- 2007)

...is the most adored, beloved and unfortunately missed Macedonian singer. The boy with the golden voice was on the path to worldwide fame when died tragically in a car accident. Check out our Toshe's song with Italian diva Gianna Nannini here.

Goran Pandev
(1983-)

... is currently the best football player in the Macedonian national team. His international career has been very successful in Italian clubs Lazio, Inter Milan and Napoli. He won the Champions League with Inter Milan in 2010 when he was one of Mourinho's crucial players. Check out his skills here.

Milcho Manchevski
(1959-)

...is the greatest Macedonian filmmaker and director. His best work, the movie "Before the Rain" collected more than 30 film awards world wide. His other work include highly rated movies such as: "Dust", "Mothers" and "Shadows". Check out the official trailer for "Before the Rain".

Simon Trpceski
(1979-)

...is the Macedonia's greatest pianist, performing on a worldwide stage. He has won numerous awards and has been a great promotor of Macedonian culture throughout the world. Enjoy this concert featured on British TV BBC.

Darko Pancev
(1965-)

...is the best footballer in Macedonian history, who played for Vardar Skopje, Red Star Belgrade and Inter Milan. He is the only Macedonian footballer to receive the Golden Boot award for scoring 34 goals in the 1991 European Championship which he won with Red Star Belgrade. Ed Jovanovski
(1976-)

...is a World Championship winner in Ice Hockey and is one of the legends of Canadian Hockey. Check out his first hat trick, don't forget Ed is a defensive player!

Mike Ilitch
(1929-)

...is the richest Macedonian alive. Born in 1929 in the USA of Macedonian mother and father, he went on to build an empire of the restaurant chain Little Caesars Pizza and is the owner of Detroit Tigers baseball team and the Detroit Red Wings ice hockey team.

Kaliopi
(1966-)

...is a famous singer, songwirter, especially in South Eastern Europe where she is considered one of the best. Her extraordinary voice has given her a large reputation, she has represented Macedonia on Eurovision Show in 2012, see her performance here.

Aleksandar Sarievski
(1922-2002)

...was an iconic folklore singer whose career lasted for six decades until passing away in 2002. His renditions of traditional Macedonian folklore songs are the first ever to be recorded as he became the voice of Macedonian history. Mike Zafirovski
(1969-)

...is a world renown businessman who spent many years at General Electric, eventually becoming the CEO of GE Lighting, he moved on to become COO of Motorola and then became CEO of Nortel. He is now founder and chairman of the Zaf Group a management consulting and investment group, and is the leader of the project Macedonia 2025
