Berovo Central Square
Macedonia
Berovo is a small town located on the easternmost part of Macedonia and is one of the highest cities in the country. The central square in Berovo is located on the main street and is arguably the most visited part of the city. The city centre includes the most popular cafes and bars, restaurants, shops and government institutions.
Nearby you can also find the Primary Court of Berovo, the farmers market, police station and their primary school. Because Berovo is a relatively small town everything else is within a 5 to 10 minute walk including the outskirts of town that have some great hiking trails. The town square bears the name of Dimitar Popgeorgiev Berovski (1840 -1907) who was born in Berovo and was a Macedonian revolutionary during the struggles against the Ottoman Empire.
The central square is also the home to the city or municipal church, 'Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary' that was built in 1912.
